Dear Camp Families,

The camp office opened up under the pines about 10 days ago and we are counting down the days until we see the campers on July 12th. Directors will be arriving this weekend. Counselors arrive between June 22 - 26. Counselors who instruct on the ropes course, are boat drivers for our water ski program, and all lifeguards arrive a few days early for pre-training workshops.

We have enjoyed talking with the large majority of our camp families over the last few weeks to discuss the upcoming camp season. In order to be as informative as possible, attached is our 2020 Camp North Star Safety Protocols. It outlines the guidelines we will be adhering to for both campers and staff and some of the changes for this summer.

Please read through the entire newsletter. Below are some important reminders about medication, transportation, and camp forms.

Next week, we will send another email with additional information to get your family ready for the camp season. Included in that email will be the date and time of our Pre-Summer Zoom Webinar for camp parents that we will be hosting with tips and suggestions for you and your child to help ensure a successful summer.

It's hard for us to adequately convey to all our camp families how much we value the trust and confidence you place in us, our leadership team, and our entire staff. We always have and always will treat your children like our own.

Camper Medication

We continue to partner with The Medicine Shoppe pharmacy in nearby Lewiston. If your child will be taking prescription or over-the-counter medication while at camp, you are required to order the medicine through The Medicine Shoppe. The only fee for using this service is a $1 fee per prescription. Over-the-counter medications are the same price you would pay by walking into the pharmacy for the same purchase. Partnering with The Medicine Shoppe allows us to comply with State, Federal, and American Camp Association regulations for the safe dispensing and handling of medication.

Camp Transportation

In the "Forms and Documents" section of your CampMinder account is the Transportation Form. We are still offering charter bus transportation from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts both to and from camp on July 12th and August 8th.

We are also recommending, if it's possible and practical, to drive your child to camp. Arrival and departure day will be contactless for camp families. You will find more information about this is in the 2020 Camp North Star Safety Protocols.

Campers, staff, and the bus driver on our charter buses are required by federal law to wear face coverings at all times on the bus. The Transportation Form must be submitted by June 15th in order to secure a space for your child on the charter bus going to and from camp.

If you filled out the Transportation Form earlier in the Spring for your originally scheduled session, we need you to resubmit the form for the news dates of arriving on July 12th and departing on August 8th.

Required Camper Forms and Family Resources

We appreciate all the camp families who already submitted the required and optional camper forms. All the forms can be accessed by logging into your CampMinder account and clicking on "Forms and Documents". Forms are due by June 15th so our staff has sufficient time to review them. Here's a handy checklist of everything that is required and optional.

You'll also find the Packing List and Family Handbook in the same section of your CampMinder account. The only change to the packing list is the Orange Trip T-Shirt is not required this summer because there are no out of camp trips.
