Dear Camp Families,

Happy holidays. We hope the start of the holiday season has been festive and bright for everyone. Up at camp right now it's hard not to be in the holiday spirit because our beautiful summer home looks like a picturesque winter wonderland.  A snowfall two weeks ago left the tall pine trees still covered in snow.  Take a look at some photos at the bottom of the email.

It was fun seeing many of our camp families and staff at a few get togethers over the last week in both New York and Connecticut.  We will be on the road even more frequently in January through April and will let you know when we are coming to a town near you.

In January, all the required camper forms will be available in your CampMinder account including registration for private tennis lessons, basketball intensive program, horseback riding lessons, and golf instruction.  We know our campers will be excited that Chris is returning to lead our tennis program and private lessons.  Also, Coach Isaiah is also back for our optional basketball intensive program which is always popular for our beginner through advanced basketball players.

Not only do campers get to sample tasty food, but they also learn different cooking techniques.  Some of the favorite recipes from last summer were French Toast Fingers, Monkey Bread, Taco Cups, and all of the "Imposter Arts" recipes.  Winter break is a great opportunity for families to spend time together and we hope making some of these recipes will be a fun family activity.  Click here to download the 2019 North Star Recipe Book.

We continue our monthly featuring sharing exciting news and updates from our North Star staff.

Sam Caplan - is a member of Cornell University's EMS agency, CUEMS.  Over his winter break in Manhattan, Sam is taking a class to become a trained EMT. He is looking forward to being back at camp next summer, especially at the waterfront. Sam wants to tell the campers that he's already been working on an updated playlist of songs for his iPod.  

Emma Bruce - just completed her fall season on the University of Delaware Rowing Team. Emma competed in regattas in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  She's training during the offseason for her spring season that starts in March.  Emma is also returning to North Star for her third summer at the waterfront.  

Lois Bowers - is back home in Wales doing what she loves most, swimming and performing.  She is training in the pool so she can return to competitive swimming.  Lois also spends a lot of time at her performing arts school where she dances and sings.  She will be back at the waterfront next summer and new for 2020, part of the performing arts staff too.
